Trip Summary

New Zealand is one of the most beautiful countries we have ever been to. Every corner gives you another wow-view and you can travel around without getting bored for years! The trip we have compiled for you takes you, with a campervan, through the most stunning areas of the South Island of New Zealand. We didn't stick to the standard itinerary most people do, but we guide you to the best spots. Some of these spots are popular hot spots, others are rather unknown, and that's what makes this trip unique. If you like epic road trips, adventure, photography and a bit of luxury, this trip is perfect for you!

About Flip Flop Wanderers

We are Bram & Manon and together we call ourselves Flip Flop Wanderers. We travel full time around the world and like to take it slow. We don't mind the number of countries we've seen, we just like to see the countries we visit very well. We spent a lot of time down under, 2 years in Australia and 1 year in New Zealand. Other places we've traveled are South East Asia, Fiji, Dubai, USA, Caribean, Mexico, and Europe. We have a big passion for photography and our favorite footwear, you might have guessed that already, are flip flops.

Trip Overview

Christchurch

Christchurch

The biggest city of the South Island only inhabits 380,000 people and doesn’t have big city vibes. The city center was ruined by an earthquake in 2010 and you can still see the destruction. Even after all this time the city center hasn’t recovered yet and is rather quiet. With the biggest international airport on the south island, this is the best place to start your trip. Pick up your camper, visit the city center, and pack up some groceries for your upcoming trip.

Sign of the Kiwi with the Mitchells Track and make your way back via the Cedrics Track (one hour return).
