The Story

Amboseli is one of Africa's great stages. Vast open plains, ancient elephant herds moving in the shadow of Kilimanjaro's snow-capped peak, and a cast of wildlife that has made this park legendary. For 10 days, world-renowned wildlife photographer Chris Fallows will take you inside that world.

Your journey begins in Nairobi with a welcome dinner where Chris shares what drew him to Africa and how he uses photography as a tool for conservation. It's the kind of conversation that sets the tone for everything that follows.

From Nairobi, a private transfer takes you to Osero Sopia Mt. Kili Camp, a boutique camp positioned deep inside Amboseli with Kilimanjaro as your constant backdrop. Each morning you'll head out in private vehicles with Chris and expert Masai guides who have spent their lives reading this landscape. The focus is elephants, but Amboseli doesn't hold back - zebras, cheetahs, giraffes, and hundreds of bird species are all part of the story.

Each afternoon ends with photography and conservation masterclasses over sundowner drinks. Chris will push your eye, your technique, and your understanding of the animals you've been photographing. Evenings are spent around the camp sharing the day's work and stories.

Limited to just 8 guests, every element of this safari is built around access, intention, and the kind of depth that only comes from being in the field with someone who has spent 30 years earning the trust of wild places.

The Highlights

  • 10 days in one of Africa's most iconic wildlife landscapes
  • 7 nights boutique accommodation at Osero Sopia Mt. Kili Camp
  • 7 days of safari exploration in private vehicles
  • Expert Maasai guides with deep knowledge of the landscape and wildlife
  • Optional balloon safari over the Amboseli plains
  • Guided by wildlife photographer Chris Fallows
This is more than a trip.

Most safaris put you in a vehicle and point you at wildlife. This one puts you in the field with a photographer who has spent 30 years learning to see. You'll come home with images you couldn't have made alone, and a different understanding of the animals behind them.

What Fuels Chris

“My goal is to tell the story of our planet’s icons.”

For Chris, photography is about revealing the behaviours that define life in the wild, many of which are rarely seen today.

Decades in the field have shown him that images create connection in a way few other things can. And that connection is what drives people to care, and ultimately, to protect.

Working alongside his wife Monique, Chris extends that commitment beyond photography, actively acquiring and protecting conservation land across Africa. The work doesn’t end when the camera is put down, it continues in the effort to ensure these stories can still be told in the future.

Day By Day

Your Itinerary

Day

1

Welcome to Nairobi

Arrive in Nairobi and you're already taken care of. A private transfer meets you at the airport and gets you to your accommodation.

Tonight is for meeting Chris Fallows and the rest of the group over dinner - a chance to hear what drives his passion for conservation in Africa, how he uses photography as a tool for change, and to ask everything you've been wondering before the journey begins.

Day

2

Into the Park

After breakfast, a private transfer takes you south towards Amboseli National Park. The camp sits with Kilimanjaro as its backdrop - one of the most iconic settings in Africa. Zebras and elephants move across the plains in front of you. Unpack, take it in, and spend your first evening with Chris over dinner as the sun drops behind the savannah.

Day

3-8

Amboseli

The rhythm of these days is the best kind of simple. Breakfast at camp, then out into the park in private vehicles - deep into elephant country, with zebras, cheetahs, and hundreds of bird species moving through the same landscape. Chris and the local guides know where to look and how to get you there.

Each afternoon, as the light shifts, join Chris for photography and conservation masterclasses over sundowner drinks. Village visits and community experiences are woven through the week. And if you want it, a balloon safari over Amboseli at dawn is something you won't forget.

Day

9

Back to Nairobi

A last breakfast with the sounds of the savannah, one final look across Amboseli, then the transfer north to Nairobi. Tonight is a farewell dinner - the right way to close out a week like this.

Day

12-13

Goodbye Nairobi

Final breakfast, then a transfer to Nairobi International Airport. Your departure is coordinated by the team so you're not watching the clock. You leave with full memory cards and the kind of week that takes a while to fully land once you're home.

What should I wear?

Neutral-coloured clothing is best for safari - it keeps you comfortable and doesn't disturb the wildlife. Light, breathable layers work well given the changing temperatures between early morning game drives and midday heat. A good pair of light synthetic hiking shoes will take care of you across most terrain and activities on this trip.

What are the camps like?

Osero Sopia Mt. Kili Camp sits in the heart of Amboseli with views of Kilimanjaro as the backdrop. All camps on this trip have solar power, hot water showers and wi-fi - remote doesn't mean roughing it.

Who leads the trip?

Every Airguides expedition has two leaders: an Airguides trip leader who handles logistics and keeps everything running smoothly, and a storyteller guide - in this case Chris Fallows - who brings world-class wildlife photography expertise and deep knowledge of the environment to every day in the field. Our Storytellers are photographers, filmmakers, marine biologists and other experts who offer a genuinely unique window into the places you're exploring.

Is there a single supplement for solo travellers?

Yes. Solo travellers can request a private room for an additional fee. We may also be able to pair solo travellers in shared rooms on a first-come-first-served basis. Contact us for details and availability.

Can I speak to someone about this trip or get help with flights?

Yes. Our team can help with flight options and travel routing into Nairobi. Call, text or WhatsApp us at +61 402 552 918. You'll speak directly with an Airguides team member who knows this trip inside out. We're here for any questions, big or small, from planning your adventure to arriving back home.

A truly unique experience that you will cherish for the rest of your life.

This experience is not for the faint of heart or someone who is looking for Instagram moments for clout. You are being given a unique opportunity to go to a place that will only be accessible to a handful of mere mortals.

To be in the presence of a unique visionary like Martin Gregus is truly a once in a lifetime.

Anne Prather, Fireweeds 2025

The Airguides trip to Tonga to swim with humpback whales was the experience of a lifetime. I have traveled all over the world, and nothing compares to being in the wild, rustic, deep blue waters of the South Pacific while interacting with whales and their calves. A wonderful and caring team made our adventures stress free.
